Construction Related Traffic Alert!

The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning State Route 400 northbound motorists that traffic is expected to be heavy this weekend as the Department puts a traffic shift in place as part of the Hammond Drive Half-Diamond Interchange Project.

WORK IS SCHEDULED FROM 9PM FRIDAY (4/9/2010) TO 5AM MONDAY (4/12/2010)

When work begins on Friday at 9PM, the right lanes will be closed on State Route 400 northbound just north of I-285 and as the work progresses throughout the weekend the lane closures will move to the left lanes. Two northbound lanes will be maintained at all times and the southbound lanes will not be affected.

Motorists should also be aware that beginning sometime Saturday evening, the ramp from I-285 eastbound to State Route 400 northbound will be closed for approximately eight hours. It will reopen early Sunday morning. A detour for this ramp will be in place and will be signed accordingly. The ramp from I-285 westbound to State Route 400 northbound will be open the entire weekend however there will be a change in the merging and yielding conditions on that ramp and Georgia DOT is urging travelers to use extreme caution.

This traffic shift is a component of the construction at State Route 400 and Hammond Drive. This $18.2 million project began in February 2009 and is scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2011.
